The Antex DST range of de-soldering bits for SMT components comprise a range of 10 bits with tip profiles engineered to fit the majority of component dimensions. The de-soldering of SMT components require enough local heat to melt the solder, but not overheating thereby risking damaging adjacent components or tracks. To avoid overheating it is recommended de-soldering is done using temperature controlled soldering irons with the lowest possible temperature selected to achieve efficient de-soldering. For any component not listed and for which none of the profiled bits is suitable the spade bit (DST-K) can be dressed using a file, into a suitable profile. These soldering bits will fit any of the Antex Industrial Soldering Irons model nos: A245, A545 or A718 and their static dissipative or fume extraction derivatives. They will also fit Antex standard irons CS, TCS, XSTC and XSD.
