The easiest way to meet this requirement is to have a portable induction loop system available and ready for use at all times. The SIGNET PL1/K1 is compact, lightweight, portable audio-frequency induction loop amplifier. Suitable for counter, table or desktop, it is ideal for restricted person contact in areas such as banks, post offices, reception desks, ticket booths and small meeting rooms. The SIGNET PL1/K1 is capable of generating a loop listening field of more than 100mA/m (the level required by BS 7594) at distances greater than 1m from the unit itself. The SIGNET PL1/K1 has an automatic shut-down feature after 10, 30 or 60 minutes (user set) to help preserve battery life. A boundary microphone is available as an optional extra to give greater coverage. The SIGNET PL1/K1 kit includes the PL1 Loop Amplifier, a plug in charger, AFILS available sticker and durable cardboard storage/carry case.

Under Sections 6 and 21 of the Act, all alterations need to be in place by October 2004. The Act aims at ending the discrimination which many disabled people face. It gives disabled people new rights in various areas including access to goods, facilities and services.  Service providers have a legal duty to implement something that ensures that the deaf are not disadvantaged and at any point where staff deal with the public it will be necessary to provide some system to effectively communicate with anyone having to rely on a 'deaf aid' device.
